Attacking enemy ships

Hello my fellow submariners,

Im back with another question. I feel Dumb for saying this but, Iv never been good at math and numbers. the Hardest thing for me is using the tools in SH4 to go after enemy ships. I don't know how to use the ruler, or the protractor. Iv never been good at math. any help or suggestion would be greatly appreciated. thank you.
