I am rather depressed to see this. Let us hope that it will not deter future single-player RPGs in the series.

Oh yea, another skinner box you pay 15 bucks a month for.

No thanks.

I think the idea to have a multiplayer aspect the the TES series is a good one. I will honestly say that I've often thought about how cool it would be to have a buddy play along with me in the same world.

However my gut feeling is that this game will turn into some quasi WoW clone.

Going through /r/skyrim has me seeing the same thing. The appeal that the TES games offer is through your own personal interactions and exploring an immersive world.

With an MMO this won't be possible. They're simply setting up another medieval MMO set in Tamriel without any Lore and background..

For me, this is the ultimate contradiction. Games like Oblivion, skyrim, Fallout 3, fallout NV, are why i stopped playing MMO's, aside from seeing through the facade of it all.

Here's the thing, there is nothing you can't do in an MMO, that you can't do in a TES game, or Fallout game, for free, with the power to change design decisions you don't like. Another point, what's the first thing people ask about MMOs? "How is the soloablity?"

So let me think this through, i can do everything in a TES game or fallout game that i can do in an MMO for free, and they have excellent soloablity. Why an MMO again?

Yes!

Well I love my mmo's so I'm happy about this. I would laugh if Elder Scroll online became the true WoW killer. SWOTOR failed, the frames per sec lagg in pvp was the killer where i no longer play that mmo, dont know if they have fixed it, last time I read they still haven't its like they cannot fix this bug. I don't fancy going back.

An Elder Scroll online will work, people are sick of WoW but there is no better MMO to replace it. Please let it be Elder Scrolls online.

See you online in 2013 , Your find me in the taverns getting into fist fights with the newbies

Here's Game Informer's June feature on it. Looks like it'll appeal to the WoW junkies (read: not me)

It would be my suggestion to not get your hopes up.

Mike Kirkbride, the driving force behind the bulk of TES lore as we know it was denied a job working on TESO. That says it all. Forgive my neckbeardiness on Elder Scrolls lore, but I'm a big fan of the setting and the universe. This is just a cheap attempt to cash in on the Elder Scrolls name. Kicking Kirkbride to the curb says quite a bit about how Zenimax feels about making this fit into the Elder Scrolls canon.
