Default Plotting target course with map contacts disabled

In an American sub, if map contacts are disabled, I plot target course by plotting it with the map tools using a sonar bearing and range, or alternatively with the 3D TDC by Nisgeis or the OTC by Capn Scurvy. If I use map tools, I use the 3,000 meter bearing tool. OM does not have a 3,000 meter bearing tool insofar as I am aware. Also, sonar on a UBoat provides bearing but not range. OMEGU does have karamozovnew AOBF, but using it takes a while to plot range. Is there another way if map contacts are disabled? (I can solve the problem by enabling map contacts. If I do so, then I can also see approaching aircraft on the Nav Map, which is not such a bad alternative.)
