Default Sinking Neutral Ships

It's early in the war and I come across a neutral ship at night, is there a penalty for sinking neutral ships in the game? Will it go towards my tonnage needed for my patrol mission? How does sinking neutral shipping work in game? I know in real life it happened by accident or not, lol.

I am also using OHII-Full.

Sinking neutrals gets you a renown penalty I believe. It's part of the game, if you make a mistake, that can be a part of war.
I do not know if it will be added to you tonnage though, you can check for yourself by going to:
C/Ubisoft/Silent Hunter 5\data\Scripts\AI\Events\GAMEPLAY_ShipSunk
So this will tell you what the game tallied for that neutral.

and don't sink any allied ship! It gives you nasty CTD. Remember that Polish ship after October 5, 39 is allied.

Yeah, I'm sure he meant Axis ships. CTD's?? I didn't know that. I nearly sank a Polish ship myself after the Warsaw date. I gotta try that sometime, I wonder if the crew rebels....

yes I mean axis. Yes, attacking Polish ships gives CTD. I sank a Polish ship in the Kiel canal with the result that I could not use the canel anymore during my campaign. When I approached the site of the sinking, I got CTD

Thanks guys, I clearly identified the ship as neutral. Just patrol is early in war and not much to sink.
