What is the point of the "Tor" radio message?

Recently while playing Silent Hunter 5 I received a radio message on 12/20/1939. The message was open frequency and all it said was

"Tor...

unknown"

I received this message in Silent Hunter 3 as well, and it is just as unsettling now as it was then. Has anyone else received this radio message, and if they know what the point of it was?

A ship that has just been torpedoed and all the radio operator could get sent was "Tor .." before it was too late
