I sank one heading out of the eastern end of the Tsugaru Strait two days ago. First time I'd seen one at sea. One torpedo right under the bridge and down it went.

Yeah, i sunk one in a Sboat returning to java after a patrol. He was heading up the coast of Borneo.

Single fish just forward of the bridge gave me a fireball.

TMO and RSRD both have JP and German subs roaming the ocean. I've sunk them in several places. If you get one on sonar about all you hear is a heart beat sound. They all run on the surface. I've never thought of trying to put one in submerged, but guess it could be done.
Also a few midget subs roaming, one for sure in the Bungo, all you see on it is it's scope and it moves and turns on a dime. Try putting a torp in one of those.

I haven't seen one in SH4 yet.
I sank one in SHCE once. Does that count?

This bad boy was outside the Bungo sudo and i was on my way to recon some darn place i cant spell, it was some time ago, i've been using S-boats lately. This is Silversides. She took one of the two i shot at her in the diesel room (as far as im concerned) the other ran too deep.

Running TMO/RSRD in USS Balao in early 1944 off the north end of the Formosa Strait, I encountered a sub I thought was US. Wanting to inspect it further, I used the external camera and zoomed in. The crew was apparently at battle stations, with all guns manned, which should have been a dead give-away. But, on closer look, the gunners were wearing US Army uniforms and what appeared to be Army insignia patches (a Spade) on US-style helmets. As I approached to wave a friendly greeting, she opened fire on me! Turned out to be a U-Boat with her crew in Sheeps Clothing! I had to sink her with the deck gun, but not before sustaining 48% damage to my hull and several casualties, forcing my return to Guam. Never assume another sub out there is friendly! Also, make sure you can use the manual to recognize a U-Boat vs. a US sub! Another hard lesson at the expense of my boat, crew, and mission.

I sank an IJN midget sub that was docked in one of the harbors, somewhere above the Bungo Strait. Never got the credit for it though.

Yep. I have sunk about 6 or 7 now. They appear a lot around the Makkassar Strait, the NE area of New Ireland by Rabaul, and the north side of the Philippines. That's where I have consistantly run across them.

I sunk a Jap Sub a while ago in the Java or Banda Sea. I've never seen a midget submarine though, not even in port.

I once had a circular run and sank myself

Which is odd because I didn't even know the game modeled circular runs

I got one docked in I think it was Formosa(not sure this was about 2 years ago) but it took I think 8 fish to sink it and I never got credit for it.

How did some of you guys get one in one hit?I thought at least in TMO that the subs had some strange damage system and always took tons of hits.Whic was why I never really bothered looking for them dont like using that much firepower that basically does nothing in game.

I've sunk a couple at sea, a couple more in harbors (not recently, as I try not to attack harbors anymore).

They never seem to dive, and use exclusively the deckgun.

Also, in TMO at least, they take a crap-ton of damage to actually sink them.
It doesn't take much to get "She's going down, Sir!" (whereupon they also cease firing and moving), but they don't actually slip under the waves without taking an inordinate amount of damage. We're talking easily 50 plus deckgun shots into the waterline, or a few torps.
