Hello,

I am new to SH3 and enjoying it, i am also learning about installing Mods etc,

I installed WSM3 via JSGME ok but find that when i save my mission with the Heavy Cruiser in WSM3 when i go back to carry on with the mission i get a CtD and its saying its the SH3 exe thats the problem, i then noticed i am using a early version of JSGME, i have downloaded a later version now but do i start again from fresh with the Mods or can i overite the early version and carry on or perhaps the mission in WSM3 can't be saved?

I think I sorta know the problem you're having.

Lately, I've had particular trouble with a Black Sea patrol. I sank a freighter, then set myself up for a harbor raid, then saved & quit.

Since then, every time I try to load the save from my approach to the harbor, I get a CTD. The really frustrating thing is, the crash happens right after the "Not so long ago..." screen, just before I would normally see the inside of my U-boat. So every time, I have to wait several minutes for everything to load. And then I have to start over again.

As with your crashes, it's SH3.exe that's supposedly misbehaving.

I'm not running out of RAM. I have 4 GB, and the game never uses more than about 1.5 GB.

Game works fine, most of the time, even with umpteen zillion mods applied.

I've never figured this one out. The only thing that works is: repeatedly trying to load earlier and earlier saves. Eventually, I get back to one that doesn't crash the game.

I've also tried running with all mods turned off (except GWX 3 itself), but that doesn't work either. There's some kind of bug that instantly kills me and ends my career as soon as the load completes. So I have to start over yet again.

It's annoying.

Neat, thanks for the link.

Executive summary: don't save when near land, or when being chased by enemies, or when there is much of anything going on anywhere nearby. These saves will probably give you a CTD when you attempt to load them.

Also: save early, save often. Doing that has salvaged my Black Sea patrol.

Hi,

Well i still can't save in career mode ,i have tried and tried, its really frustating but i'm sure someone had done it!!

Again, using JSGME the mod [WMS3]has gone in as i'm sailing the ships ok but its just not saving , i am using the increase time compression on the map to get me a few miles out from the base just to try it as i don't want to spend a couple of hours on patrol only to find it gone tits up!

I am using the default sim from a DVD 1.4 with only two other mods installed, one is a new skin on the sub and i have changed a file for rough weather other than that nothing else,

As i said i'm completely new to the sim but after ten years flight simming i do know about some of the files in the sims but i can't for the life of me figure out this problem, i don't think i'm doing anything wrong but i may be i suppose
