We've seen some of the wild camo patterns used. It basically started in WW1, one scientist saying the wild lines and camo made it very hard to track speed, but in WW1 very bright bold colors were used, yellow, purples, ect. Haven't seen any colored pictures, guess none exist. We see some of this in WW2, but what about the bold colors. I assume technology outdated the razzle dazzle.
Heres a few SS, didn't know they went that wild and think what it would look like with bright neon colors...whew, confuse any skipper looking in a scope. ![]() ![]() The link for more http://twistedsifter.com/2010/02/raz...le-camouflage/ See if you can guess what happened here for a lil in game razzle dazzle ![]() This is what you saw underwater, finnaly figured out they're bubbles made bu the subs bow wave. ![]() Heres the bow wave, you can see the bubbles are dials. ![]() Dials showed and rotated on the ocean surface ![]() Like the faces in the bow wave ![]() ![]() ![]()

Well, I'm not exactly sure. I had a big mission I made loaded, but I've played with it a hundred times with no problems. Hours into it, this happened. These SS's barely touch the funny pictures. The flags had pictures of all sailors from the game screen. The only thing I can figure is my video card has been going bad, fan not running and overheating. It was
just throwing me out of the game. Laid up now and can't get another card, so I've got a small fan blowing on the card and was able to play without it overheating. I think with the big load it finally overheated anyway causing this. Thought I was in the twilight zone, couldn't believe how some of this crap displayed. Some of the other ships actually looked pretty good, like this one.

Great shots Jan. Even looking at some hurt. SS #6 you can hardly tell which way the bow is. I never knew they got this wild. The Battlewagon is amazing. Can't imagine what it took. I own a paint contracting business do mostly large commericial work and seen somes strange things. Sure it was lead base paint and would've had to be done by hand then. Most spray equipment didn't come out until the 30's

Imagine trying to get an AOB of one of those ships!
Pretty effective. If you are interested in that sort of stuff. cf Yehudi Camouflage Another good idea that worked pretty well on aircraft, as the German submarine crews could attest.

Built the Dumas 48 inch ELCO PT Boat about 20 years ago now, and did it up in the dazzle camo like the pick above, and even running the model was very deceptive. You really had to pay attention to the wake, if you weren't sure of direction.
Fun R?C model. Too bad they discontinued it. I have been thinking about building another one. Especially living by the Great Lakes now.

Someone create a razzle dazzle scheme with WW2 pinups. That will distract 'em for sure.

Be interesting to read some accounts of some WW1 sub skippers dealing with razzle and how they dealt with it. Razzle wasn't needed in WW2 due to the higher tech equipment.
Be amazing seeing color pictures of all the bright purples, yellows, pinks... Had to be some gay ship designers then. Something about a pink BB and yellow spots just doesn't seem right.... One of my crew once turned into the Terminator..but I almost got some decent tatoos on him. The ships wheel landed on his cheek instead of his arm...no idea WTF happened to the rest of him.
