Sweet! Word of the Day!

Basically your boat never moves in stock right? Personally I use ddrgn's UHS mod which makes it rock a bunch and I love it. Pretty sure he detailed what to change to make it rock like that in the thread.

Don't feel bad, I speak English as a first language and had no idea that word existed!

Just curious.... but in these ship data files, are there any references to a variable or characteristic called metacenter or metacentric height?

In RL, metacentric height (the distance between the metacenter - the intersection of a vertical line drawn through a vessel's displaced center of buoyancy (such as when heeled) - and the center of gravity) is the characteristic that defines a vessel's stability. Transverse (the actual term the OP was looking for I think) metacentric height determines lateral or roll stability, while longitudinal metacentric height determines pitch (fore and aft motion) stability.

The term "athwartship", BTW, typically refers to the placement or orientation of an object in, on, or around a vessel.

Athwartships, as I understand, is a left to right type thing?
A row boats seats are Athwartships, correct?
To reduce or increase this motion,
the center of gravity needs moved.
Up to increase.
Down to decrease.
It's in the sim file.
You may also adjust the drag settings in the sim.
Now I have a head ache.

Athwartships = left to right, side to side, or Port to Starboard and vice versa.

Fore and Aft = from the front (forecastle) of a ship to the back (poop).

Now lets try "Monkey Island". Any guesses?

"Transverse" was exactly what google translate this one "Querschiffs".

I also tried editing some files to change the behavour of the subs in water but without complete satisfaction. Was better then but it's bad with the drm thing and thousands of restarts of the game. I had tweaked the sim.cfg too, but then I read about some possible unwanted side effects and think this one is for experts. I'm better with graphics editing. I can't use the UHS because I need to start a new career and this is odd while modding everyday. If anyone have done a tweak for this (maybe only seaparameters und sim.cfg to activate whenever I want), plz let me know. It's one of the most needed mods here. I found the sobers wave mechanics not too bad, maybe a little slow, what can be changed. With Improved Pitch and Roll by Hansolo i have problems in multiplayer mode. At the moment I use Hansolos 1.1 w/o the submarine folder.

Greez,

Echolt.

Most settings for Center of Gravity (Up and Down)
And Forward rear center (Front to back)
are based on the center of the object when imported to the Game.
Moveing the CG up will produce greater side to side motions.
The front to rear?
On importing Units from SH3 or SH4, it needs moved just a small amount.
And I mean a VERY small amount!
From .5 to like .497
Don't ask me why.
It just does.

There is also drag in many areas that may need twiddled with.
I'll admit, SH5 is a crash cart of WTF?
But if you look long enuff and hard enuff?
It's all easy to fix.

You just have to put away the fear of the unknown and
make it known.
I probably have a flat forehead by now from smackeing it
and sounding like Homer Simpson!
DOH!!

Ups, I remember the hours or days i'm over the VIIC in SHIII with waterstream and reflection controllers like TDW have with the sub flags reflections in SH5.
I was near going out through the window.

I tried changing this but in SH5 any effect was not really noticeable. In SH3 I got the sub rolling slowly (actually managed to capsize it) just by making small adjustments to the gc_height (centre of gravity height).
