Default Flak Gun/Deck Gun

Can the flak gun be operated automatically by the crew? If so how? I have tried telling the watch officer to man the flak gun but thats all that happens. The crew mans the gun and never fires a shot.

Its nice to be able to operate the flak gun and the deck gun, but there are times when the captian is busy with other duties.

Aim your binoculars at a target and press SpaceBar to make them fire or man and fire the weapon.

If you use an updated UI like TheDarkWraith's or reaper7's with Officer Orders integrated, you can do all the old hold fire/aim at waterline/fire at short range type stuff, but not with the stock game.

I was thinking more along the lines of firing at will. That command was available in SH3.

It's still available as I said, but you need to use a modded UI to get access to it.

Thanks for the info and thanks to TheDarkWraith's UI Mod I am happier now.
I still don't understand why UBI doesn't include some of the interfaces that were successful in SH3 and SH4.

Because SH4's GUI was quite a bit different from SH3's, and it was still successful. If change is good...

On the other hand people complained a lot about SH4's interface at first, then started saying things like "It grows on you." So if people liked both of them, maybe they'll like this one too.

Obviously not all change is good.
