Default Guest feature: Charles McCain's U-boat blog

If you enjoyed An Honorable German as I did, you might find his blog good reading as well.

Lüth - the Nazi fanatic. He was known for his constant interference in the lives of his men and authored a tract on how to command the crew of a U-Boat according to the principles of National Socialism titled, "Problems of Leadership." In what would be laughable if it weren't so serious, Lüth cautioned readers of his book against listening to jazz, a form of music condemned by the Nazis as "degenerate Negro Jungle Music." Wrote Lüth, "a German must not like jazz. It has nothing to do with whether or not he really likes it. He simply must not like it, just as a German man must not like a Jewess."

Reading "Problems of Leadership" made me realize how wrong and unfinished is this game. There is so much things to do on a sub, is not only about the boring sink/refit gameplay. Only the crew management could keep us so busy that we actually can forgot the TC command. Keeping the ship clean, baking, health/disease issues, organizing chess tournaments, birthdays, drills, dealing with many engine fails .. omg, there is so many things to do on a ship, but still.. in SH we are all alone. We play with a ghost ship

Why does someone always have to turn nearly every thread into some form of SH5 bashing? Get over it, it's a game, and games have limitations! Sorry, but that's reality.

Anyway, thanks for the link Neal, an interesting read.

I'm about 3 chapters into "An Honorable German" and so far it's really superb.
