Default How do you get your crew to fire on ships?

So funny situation.

After sending a Nelson to Davy Jones locker north of Scapa, I decided to return to port only to find a Queen Elizabeth also on her way to Scapa. Only had two eels left. Penetrated the screen and first one hit right under the funnel and she comes to a dead stop. Second eel from my stern tube does some extra damage but doesn't sink her.

Funny, the escorts completely ignore me and steam around the stricken battleship as if she doesn't exist . I wait a while for her to sink and nothing. I move off to 7000m and surface.

I begin shelling...

No response, not even a broadside...

Oh well, so much for enemy AI.

But my question: I can't seem to get my crew to fire upon the ship without me actually aiming. Would like to use the external camera and see the incoming shells hit the ship, but my deck crew just sit there and wait for me to fire.

Anything I can do?

J

Mark the target you want to fire at by switching to binocular view (not UZO) by hitting Spacebar when the cross goes red and they'll fire away.

Afaik, the only indirect way to fire on a ship with the deck gun, is to use the binoculars and press spacebar to START firing. There is afaik no STOP command, nor something like a sub-system targeting option available currently.

I think it was the same in SH4 to be honest, but someone will probably point out the error of my ways if I'm mistaken on this.

i could be wrong but i think the way to reset things or in this case to stop the shelling is to man it yourself then unman it.

manning it over rides the fire at will setting (i believe)

but someone should confirm it works for sure before depending on it

Actually there is a stop firing command, hit the spacebar again.

hitting the spacebar again won't stop them, nor a vommand to un-man the deck gun. probably bugged..

i think the only way to stop them at this moment would be to command periscope depth, and then immediately (after they've left the gun) surface again.

It's going to take a LOT of shells to sink a Queen Elizabeth.
