Not new here but new to SH5. From Virginia, currently stationed in Hawaii but pcsing to Ft. Bragg, North Carolina June 6th. Big WWII buff. Its amazing what you guys are capable of. Still trying to play with the mods to get them all to work.
From deployment to Iraq. ![]()

Greetings,
I'm so new to this, SubSims (Silent Hunter 5 in this case) that I still wont have my hard copy for about a week now (it's in the mail). As for myself I am 63 pushing 64 and a retired USAF Military Policeman (20 years including Viet Nam). I am not new to Sims in general, just Sub Sims & Silent Hunter 5. I've player more than my fair share of video games but these days are spent almost exclusively with Military Sims. I play Arma 2 (my ground pounding fix), IL-2 (for my WW 2 flying fix), and Just started Rise of Flight (for my WW 1 flying fix). And though I'm most likely spreading myself thin, I love all of them (as I'm sure I will Silent Hunter 5). Personally I blaim two peoiple for my getting involved here. A friend that told me a LONG time ago how good this series was (I ignored him then though. My loss). And VWFKamikaze who's videos really turned me on to this sim (SH5). The mixutre of seriousness and humour he displayed in tackling SH5 showed me a world that I just had to experiance for myself. Thanks VWFKamikaze. I look forward to bugging ALL you Sim Seamen/women. Trust me when I say IF I have a question, it will appear here in the forums. But I WILL read and search for my answers first |

WELCOME ABOARD, ChiefRedCloud!
![]() I'm not far behind you (just turned 61). You'll find that there are several of us in our age range, a few even older and of course a great many who are younger. But this is one of the few game forums where you'll find an older crowd. And you'll find that due to the necessity for extended patrols that WW2 subsims are more relaxed than most other types...at least until they find you.

Hi all,
Has been a while since I've posted on here & has been even longer since I last played sh4 & I've finally got round to buying myself a copy of sh5 as I found it on amazon for less than £5!! As I understand it from some of the threads I've seen on here, the sim in not that great without installing a few mods so I'm off to check out which ones are recommended
