Default Gold Edition

Ubi can offer a Diamond edition and I won't buy it with DRM.

I presume you do know that 'gold edition' means the game has reached its release state?

I'm more concerned with where this thread "may" possibly go.....

"Gone gold" means it's reached it's release state and been sent to the manufacturers.

However, in this case Ubisoft is selling a "Gold Edition" of SH5 complete with Draconian "constant grip" DRM, 3 unplayable U-boat skins you might possibly see, 4 "unique" ship models you might happen to bump into and some PDFs of a guide of some sort for $10 more than the $49.95 rental fee for the basic game. It's basically the Collector's Edition for the US without anything collectible.

That's 'gone gold', a bit different and refers to the CD master. I've always thought of Gold editions as generally coming out much later in a products life cycle and often package the original game with whatever expansions have been released. It is a little strange to see one pre-release. I suppose they can call it whatever they want.

I see this one includes a 'strategy guide', which in the old days meant 'the manual'. I've thought for some time the regular release will include more of the pamphlet type manual so as not to be so intimidating to the casual gamer.

I do believe that the author of the article in question might have made a mistake and mistook the 'collector's edition' for the 'gold edition'. But I may be wrong.

I'm tempted to get this one rather than ordering through Amazon just so I didn't have to wait for delivery. The UPS man is such a tease. But ordering through Amazon supports Subsim. Decisions, decisions...

How interesting. I'm looking at a box that says "Silent Hunter 5", and on the top in big capital letters it says GOLD EDITION.

And the link itself says "direct2drivecom/9213/product/Buy-Silent-Hunter:-Battle-Of-The-Atlantic-Gold-Edition-Download"

I don't do digital downloads unless it's Steam.
