The original Freddie has moved on to Broadway musicals and could not be part of the remake:

How about one of my favorites The Dirty Dozen... set in Afghanistan against Al Queda?

I'm not happy!

Apparently an A-Team movie is in the works as well.

Hate to see how that will turn out.

Hollywood's existance is to make remakes ither of their own films, or foreign films.
It goes way back to the twenties and maybe even earlier, it can't be changed without changeing Hollywood.
Just be happy that they don't put the "classics" in the vault to make you forcefully enjoy the new version.

I would tend to agree with you on this.

An interesting movie but hardly what I would call a Classic.

Unfortunately the film of Logan's Run absolutely butchered the book. And I'm a huge Michael York fan.

I'm hoping the remake will be more faithful.

The Birds does not need a remake. That movie still scares the hell out of me. Every time I see more than two birds sitting together I think they are talking about me, planning the attack. If I see a flock of seagulls, I dive for cover.
