It was just before sunrise. Visibility was good (about 6NM). The Subs surfaced and planed their attack. Sea bottom was at 88 meters.The plan was for U-3 to attack STBD column first to attract the DDs.

The subs remained on the surface at Flank speed for 10 minutes then dived to PD. I calculated the right moment to pass behind be DD while NK waited. I fired at the 2 tankers and the cargo and rushed south away from the last ship hit, and hid under the first tanker at 30 meters, watching it with the periscope.

As expected, the 2 DDs rushed towards the last ship hit and started their search. They figured that the 2 subs must have been together since 3 ships in line were torpedoed.

U-1 moved in and sank the 2 ships in the port column and rushed south away from the DDs, then stopped.

DD-2 went after the 2nd sub but chased a whale instead.

At 7h35, I moved away from the sinking ship and came up to PD after the torpedo tube was reloaded, and fired at the Cargo on fire for the Coup-de-Grace.

DD-1 and U-3 kept turning around the sinking Tanker for a while. When the next tube was reloaded, I fired and hit the DD. He limped away for repair and I went in the opposite direction.

At about 2 km from the DD, I surfaced and headed West at Flank. DD-1 must have suspected I would do such a thing and started to fire StarShells. I got illuminated and he started firing at me. When flooding got under control, he was able to chase me at Flank speed while firing.

I Crash Dived twice. I forgot how shallow the bottom was and hit the bottom hard. The DD had no problem finding me and dropped a whole rack of DCs all over me.

U-1 didn't make a move while DD-2 was still looking for him until the end of the game.
