Different reactions of the belgium people here, most of "how could this American scene happened here"
Couple years ago man shoot and kill's woman and 5 year old child
Reaction of the government, turn in all the firearms and make te law to get a firearm more difficult and thats it!
people reacting of " trow him in the Bastille with just water and bread, others punish him, make him suffer.
And then a few like myself, what can we do to make this disease get banned out the world ?
It's a world everybody for himself and sometimes becomes the loser a timebomb.
And we're all guilty on this for helping not each other!

Hey buster, there's nobody to liken this to but the man who did this horrible thing. But it is in your country and happened to your people so the question must be asked. What will you do about it? I'd be intersted to hear as we have our problems too as you already know. We tried many things and heard it all including the ever present "how it should have be done".

So here's your chance to shine show the world the power of goverment in action to fix your problems of a murder in the 1st. I say hang the S.O.B. and all like him.
Of course that just leads to other arguement about victims rights, rehabilitation and second chances. Poor perp maybe somebody should have held his more often.

Actually these school attacks, it is a kind of American tradition, as horrible as that sounds. In US there are several attacks a year, when there is one attack in a country like Belgium it's a big tragedy. In US it's pretty much normal.

Question is, why do these attacks happen in the first place? Crazy people yes but why attack specifically schools?

Because it causes more gut knee jerk response.

Schools are supposed to be a safe haven.

Yes you are right FIREWALL. We have had school shootings in Finland too. There's always been violence in schools so that's not new. There seem to be 'fashions' in violence as well, certain types of acts of violence are popular in different times.

yep the say when its raining in de States it drops in Europe, experts haved warned us about this.
reason perhaps the man is completly insane, otherwise it started in his childhood and his life is a complete disaster, keyword "revenge"
after all we are the product of are education and childhood

Just to keep ya'all from wasting time looking around who to blame, I'm going to take that burden off your shoulders and you can blame me, you can blame the U.S. and go ahead and blame our new President too (gonna happen eventually), don't forget society. We are taking the blame for this mans actions ok? Fair enough the blame has been sorted out.

Now that that's settled you have nothing else better to do but to fix it right?

More school violence occurs in the US simply because we have far more people enrolled in our schools. It happens in other places often enough to convince me it's one of those 'fact of life' things that we all have to learn to live with..but still attempt educe or control.

Put a couple of hundred hormonal, socially confused teenagers in a confined setting and there will be conflict. Some of it will become physical, and some of the physical will become fatal.

This particular incident, however...doesn't fit the typical 'school attack' profile. This was a nutcase killing babies, which is a whole 'nother brand of crazy.

i don't blame the U.S and why sould i blame your new presedent ! i think he's the man that could make a differant in the future.
i'm just saying that a country like Belgium is a copple years behind the States and not in bad things also in great things

And here in Scotland too, where we had the terrible shootings at Dunblane Primary school a few years back. Madness & depression and random acts of violence are definitely not just confined to the US.

Perhaps the reason it seems so "normal" is because the population of the US is so large in comparison to the population of Belgium. More people = more sickos, but the percentage is probably not too different.

Edit : Everything "American" gets exaggerated because the country is so large. As of July, 2008 the population of the US is estimated to be 29 times that of the estimated population of Belgium. So if the US has 29 school killings for every one in Belgium, we'd be about even.

And why not. People today have enormous amounts of negative information constantly shoved in their faces (now in high definition!) while at the same time are much more isolated socially.

100 years ago people knew everyone who lived in their neighborhood. That has become rare now and I think such incidents are a byproduct.
