Default Can't close torpedo tube door

I'm running gwx 3.0 and after opening a torpedo door with Q. If I don't fire it and want to close it I hit W, that's what the manual says to close the door and also in the sh3 book. But it doesn't say closing door. Shouldn't it tell me the doors closing.

IIRC it has never told you the doors are closing\closed
Opening up a new tube automatically closes the previous one open

You can check the status of your tubes in the control room, or at the WE's station.
If the switch is in lower position, the tube is opened.

The tube will automaticaly close if you select another one in the periscope or UZO station (not if you use the "Y" key to cycle tubes). It will also not close if you do it in TDC station (F6). A feature or a bug? :hmm:

On my install it works if I've got an officer in the corresponding torpedo room....but it can be hitty missy at times.

I say VERY irritating bug. Everytime I go to engage a target I make sure and open all tubes via my weapons officer (click on him so I can toggle the switches to open the tubes).

I ALMOST missed hitting a SouthHampton Cruiser that was speeding by me all by himself (guess he thought going 27 kts would save him) due to my damn tube doors not staying open Luckily all 4 of my torps hit him, at an odd angle mind you and he went down...

Yep...have had misses and near misses because I always open all forward tubes in my VII before a convoy attack (an old habit from I688 and SC days to prevent the bad guys hearing your doors opening when close in...don't know if the escorts can hear it in SH3?). I was never sure what I was doing to have them close "unexpectedly" on me...delaying the torpedo firing time. This thread answers some of those questions.

Personally, I wish it would not do that. When setting up a 2 fish salvo and a couple of single shots, I tend to go back and forth between tubes, to verify my TTI for all the "fish"...resulting , I see now, in my doors closing. I guess a press of the "Q" key is in order, just before firing.
