An interesting glance into the life of one of a sub's "worker bees". I found the comment "we dove to 500ft so that the [aircraft] couldn't see us" interesting considering they were in the Atlantic area which we gamers normally consider as pea soup compared to the Pacific and any depth is safe from airborne 'eyes'. It just goes to show how much precautions were applied against aircraft even in the murky Atlantic.:hmm:

I found the damaged stern plane story interesting. I've always wondered how often the planes took damage in heavy seas. Especially the German boats with their non-folding bow planes. In a heavy sea, those big surfaces must take an awful pounding.
