I have a question, that's been nagging me lately. And, i'm prepared for some of my fellow kaleuns to laugh at the lunacy of it
Although i'm getting the majority of my torpedos hitting the targets from the manual solution, I want to be SURE i'm reading the right dial. lol. So, i've taken a screenie and drawn two respective arrows. Now, when you are doing a manual target soltution and you input the bearing, lets say the target is 45 degrees on your bow, when you guys put the bearing in, do you use the corresponding BEARING dial, or read the bearing from the GYROANGLE dial? Because i've noticed the Gyroangle dial always points dead on whatever bearing i choose, and in the past....i've been reading from that dial. Is it the right one I should be looking at?

Yup, you input the bearing on the bearing dial. The gyroangle dials adjust automatically as a function of your input on the bearing/range/AOB/speed dials.

Yes and no! As Bert8for3 says, the bearing dial (or scope viewing direction) drives the needle on the gyro angle dial after the lead-aim is calculated based on the other 3 dials (range, AOB, target and torpedo speed). But since you want 0 gyro angle for best aiming accuracy (when torpedo's do not need to turn) you still look to the gyro dial to see at which bearing you should fire. And so I allways wait for the target to pass that bearing (which results in 0 gyro angle) through the scope or on hydrophone before I pull the trigger.
