Default Noob needs a hand...

Hello all!

I'm 110 percent noob with anykind of MP so good detailed hints are more than valuable to me now when I'm planning to set up a MP session with a friend. (I'm familiar with DW as a single player so I know the game itself.) So, what else do I need? Is ICQ all what I need + high speed connection to net? Do I have to set up "something else" in ICQ environment to host my friend, or is ICQ-number everything I need? I'm aware DW doesen't offer anykind of server. I have patched the game myself and have LWAMI installed and I'll recommend those for my friend too. Anything else?

Greetings,
-RC-

If you've never connected in MP, the main thing you need is time... to screw it up. Most people have trouble connecting the first time and need to be able to track the problem down. So, I'd suggest meeting your other players early so you get a head start on any problems that might arise. Or, do a test connection as soon as possible so at least you'll know before you meet your players if your connection is working.

You can solve about 90% of all connection issues with this information: http://www.commanders-academy.com/wi...play_online.3F

Thanks.

And we've all been there. Sometimes more than once, if your internet service changes or we get a new computer or firewall or whatever. But once you make the changes you need to, you can just leave it alone and it'll work every time.

Dangerous Waters, Sub Command and 688i Hunterkiller have always had the most rock solid MP connections out of most of the games I've played MP.
688i was a bear to get to connect the first time, but Considering it's age and the wierd configuring...
DW and Sub Command were EASY to set up for connecting.
