Default realism level keeps resetting to 100%

Hello, I recently got back into this game and downloaded a few mods (NSM4, RFB, RSRDC) and whenever I go into any part of the game, the realism resets to 100%. I am horrible at manual targetting and this is not my idea of fun doing math instead of blowing up ships. The other stuff I could handle but I do not want manual targetting set. Does one of these mods force 100% and if so is there a way to allow it to keep my custom realism settings? Thanks!

Some of the mods change what constitues 'real' so you can for example have certain features turned on that don't reduce the realism %. Some mods remove options from realism features, allowing map contacts on, but removing the contact tails, so you can't see the course or removing the next / previous unit cycling, but as far as I am aware, nothing forces you to have 100% realism, like you are encountering.

There is an easy trap to fall into, and apologies if you already know this, but there are two seperate realism options. There is the one you access through the main menu and that sets realism for single missions and (I think) quick missions. Career mode though has a completely seperate difficulty setting hidden away. In the office with the submarine model and the picture on the desk with the telephone, there is a book case to the left with some files/books on it. These are save game, load game and difficulty settings. Selecting this will allow you to change the realism levels and once set will stay that way for the rest of the career, unless you edit your saved campaign of course.

Oh I do think I remember the seperate realism options for career back when i first played, and have completely forgotten. I will try that, as I was using the one from the main menu. Thanks so much!

The mods like RFB and TMO change the default realism settings. Unlike the stock game where you start low and ramp them up, for these mods you start on the high end and turn off what you don't want.

Nisgeis has it right. The gameplay settings will not affect the campaign settings, so you have to do those seperately.
