Default U-boat.net

I've just departed with $54.00 (Australian) to become a U-boat.net member for 1 year. I don't really know how worthwhile this will be, but I will let you know. I've paid good money to Subsim, and if it is anything like this, it will be money well spent.

Update soon.

I occasionally look on Uboat.net for info, however, I tend to prefer buying a book on any subject I really want to know about. Unlike with Subsim.com, I must admit that I've never really been tempted to hand over any cash to Uboat.net, what exactly are you supposed to get for your money, or is that just a donation to keep the site running?

The Avon Lady,

Laugh at me you may, even my wife and daughters do :rotfl:and so does our Alaskan Malamute. Hey how did you know I looked like that?

Ok feedback on U-boat.net as follows;

From the time I parted with my money, till the time I had access to the U-boat members area, was approximately 1 hour (this was to me, very good).

The maps....oh the maps, the maps are so outstanding, they are detailed, informative and most of all accurate. There are different kinds of maps i.e. ships attacked by U-boats, U-boat losses, attacks on U-boats & these maps also include WW1.

Whilst in the map you click on a convoy marker, it brings up a full spread of the U-boats involved what they attack, who they hit, which then links into other goodies.

The Wolf pack area is unreal. It details every wolf pack ever formed, its name and which U-boat were involved in this pack, what they did, who they ambushed etc, and sadly which U-boat were lost in the pack.

The emblems area is really good, explains what they mean, who wore them, how they came to be, etc

The commanders area is outstanding, lots of detail.

Commander still alive, I didn’t know there was so many.

The one thing they do stress is not to download and show what they have worked so very hard to get, and I agree with them.

There’s allot more, I'll keep you posted.

If you think it was worth it then it is. Simple as that.

About 24 GBP, 48 USD or 35 EUD.

What would a book cost you?

I just paid 60 AUD for both of the 2 hardback volumes of Kenneth G. Wynn's Uboat Operations of the Second World War for example. There is probably just as much if not more value in the content Ven so I reckon if you find the info valuable then it's worthwhile.

£24 = 4 pouches of tobacco (for the smokers) or 12 bottles of beer (for the drinkers)......over a 12 month period....a bloody snip mate

Excellent value
