Hi Everyone,
Try as I may, this game just does not seem to do "what it says on the box!" I find it impossible to do the first mission from Pearl without running out of fuel, and I don't see another base near enough to refuel at. Every time I set game settings they revert to Custom so I don't get target marker or lock. The keyboard map F keys bear no relationship to what they actually are in the Help list. I could do without little men running around the Jap decks if only I could play the game the way I want to. Eye candy is great but not at the expense of a good game. After all of the unfavourable comments I was a bit doubtful of buying it. Once bitten twice shy as the saying goes. For the time being I guess I'll stick to SH3. RR. How in god's name do you manage to run out of fuel? I can sortie from Pearl, head to Japan, go on station for a couple of weeks, then head back and top off my tanks at Miday, and still have a quarter tank left.

You do understand that you can click on the tab at the bottom of the speed dial and select a speed slower than one third? Relative to the game settings, when you're in the Office, there is an 'Options' mode that allows you to select your settings for the missions.

2.) Midway... the white and blue striped anchor. Stop there to top off the tanks. 3.) Settings can be changed in carrier mode by clicking the radio on the shelf to the left of your desk. 4.) The F key.... as others suggested take the manual and toss it. Read some of the stickied guides at the top of these forums for good advice and tips. Also dont forget to patch to 1.3 and then look into some of the mods. Its a pretty good game on its own right, better with mods. Im not making a crack at the op but nearly every complaint is due to not understanding the game mechanics. We see these 'complaints' quite often and they could have been avoided by prepairing a decent manual instead of a knock off from SH3. |

Hi,
Thanks for the help guys. I did not realise that Options could be changed in the office. At least I can now target my objectives. The fuel problem I'll sort out one way or another, but bumbling along in an S18 at 1 or 2 knots is not my idea of fun even with TC. RR |

2 knots, why are you going that slow? You can set your speed to 10 knots and happily travel all over, use flank only when chasing a target and when submerged I go for ahead 2/3rds when spending a day underwater (avoiding air cover) or in rough seas etc your batteries will last a good 12 hours or so. Also refuel at midway like previously said to top your fuel before the long haul to your target (I do travel at flank speed to miday only when at the beginning of a mission).
