French animated sci-fi film
I am searching for a french animated sci-fi film.
The main image I remember is a young boy wandering a hostile planet and finding an animal that had a body like a hippo and a tallish neck and a huge mouth, they sought shelter in a cave but in the cave lived a roof dwelling creature that ahd tentacles and ate the animal. The next scene is the boy surrounded by gian mosquito type things that were pecking his head and he was saved by a rocket ship where a man with a metal plate on his head rescued him. I remember thinking that the old man was actually the young boy but from the future. Can anyone help me out.

I found it. It's called Time Masters. It is coming out on DVD in October.
