I would like to know how the game is going to handle sinking claims? On Uboat.net I have noticed that often Commanders claimed to have sunk more vessels that they actually hit; on a few occasions they underestimated damage, too. If a type VII skipper, for instance, says that he has destroyed 50,000 tons of merchant shipping and the HMS "Ark Royal", will we know that it is 100% accurate? I think it would be interesting if it took several days or weeks of game time to validate a captain's patrol results. Imagine if someone claims to have sunk two battleships and then an intelligence report arrives saying that both of them are safe in their harbor! :rotfl:

As far as I understood has the player the choice to fight an engagement by himself or to let the game decide upon the outcome?
I think incorrect sinking claims should apply at least to the computer decided battles. We could say "fog of war" to the claims? On the other hand, everything is completly known in humen played battles and I think there is no big record of the Kriegsmarine to correct the reports of their Captains. So what could be the + and - (from the BDU's point of view)? + exaggerated reports could have a positive propaganda effect - enemy losses are usually lower then estimated ... to be continued
