How do you scale items, mtls, and objs

How does one scale down items? Is it the 3D model or is it a hex value somewhere in the nodes?

Hi,
I wanted so much this question solved.....then someone could at last put those *******ing trees to the right height, and we will get rid off those 60m(180feet) palm trees high.
