Hydrophone slowdown/stutter

Hi Guys
Has anyone else seen (or heard

) this:
When attacking large convoys, my FPS drops from 56+ (sometimes all the way to 0) when listening in a specific direction. I have a nasty feeling, it might be an invalid sound file, but it could also be just that there are too many ships in that direction. On the other hand, from the god's eye view, I'm not searching exactly in the direction of most ships.
If it is a particular ship type causing this, I'm afraid that I haven't identified it yet. Will keep looking for clues.

Is your hard drive pinging away all this time..... If so you need more RAM

Err, no...
I've got 3GB of RAM, and my PC hardly ever pages

For the record: P4/3.0, 3GB RAM, ATI X1950 PRO AGP/512MB (CAT 7.5),
Creative Audigy SZ... and other stuff, not related to performance.

The rig actually runs FSX OK (not great, but then I don't think anyone is running FSX great

) - just this one problem.

NOTE: Stalking the same convoy today . the problem didn't occur! The rain had stopped - could the sound of rain cause problems?
