Default Which one is less easy to spot by enemy..observation scope or attack scope ?

Playing NYGM (because it doesn't strain my Graphics Card like GWX) and I started to wonder which one of periscopes is harder to spot ? I don't know how much it matters, since I use attack scope for...well..attack... But would it be beneficial to use observation scope and switch to attack scope of just use attack scope when in vincinity of enemies ?

I never ever used the Observation Periscope.

Attack just feels more efficient as its harder to spot and has no disadvantages that put it under the ob periscope.

In gameplay terms, I doubt you'll see a difference between the two scopes -- but when & how you use them could make a significant difference. For ex., running fast with the scope up makes a bigger wake, which you don't want.

Mach's gut!

In real life the Op. Scope was known as the ''sky scope'' it was useful for, well as the name suggests, aeroplanes. It was bigger than the Attack scope, and captians didnt like using it as it left a bigger wake and was easier to spot during the day.

In game, I find it easier to scan the horizon because of the 1X magnifacation and has a higher max angle then the attack scope, also it useful for a back-up scope if your attack one is damaged.

As for the difference of the visibility of the two scopes to the enemy, I dont think it makes too much difference.....

It has one very big (kinda cheaty) advantage: it was a skyscope. Before surfacing you can check for aircraft. But below you can use it to keep tabs on the destroyer looking for your blood and its DC's, because you can look straight up. On flank speed, depth of 100-130 and manual rudder you can evade DC's endlessly. Any deeper and you can't see the surface anymore, so DC's just appear out of the murk.

I believe they often used both scopes at once for better 360° Security.

Another advantage of the Observation 'Scope is that it's in the control room. In a u-boat you have to climb to the conning tower, sit in the saddle and operate the mechanism to look around with the Attack 'Scope. The Obs 'Scope, you just walk to it and pull the 'up' lever.
