Default Rossler: The U-Boat: The Evolution and Technical History of German Submarines

Hello,

I am very interested in this book in english. I have read very good reports of it...

But I am very lost, I have seen two ISBN

1. About the ISBN 0304361208, I can find two versions, one edited in London in 2001 and other edited in NY in 2002. But what is the difference to justify $180 of difference? (See link)

http://search.barnesandnoble.com/use...0304361205&z=y

2. The other ISBN is 0853681155. Which seems to refer to editions of 1981 and 1982...

Which is the difference in the case 1. It is better to get the 200x edition vs the 198x one? What's the difference?

I'm lost.

I appreciate any clue to clarify this...Tx

Hello, I have this book. It's very good and has very information about the u-boat, development, constrution and history. A lots of photo's, u-boat's from before WW1,until 1975, since the first german edition is from that date.

The first english edition is from 1981, and reprinted in 2001=the 2001 edition.

But I can not see any diference about the two book's, besides the info that the seller saids. In the amazon sites, the price of this book is also around the 200 $.

I would just go with the cheaper one, I've had this book for a while now and can fully recommend it. I think i paid near $60 cdn for it while amazon had it.

They probably justify the high price by the two words "First Edition". Those tend to be hot properties.

I was going to recommend Advanced Book Exchange (www.abebooks.com), but their copies seem to be the same ones offered by B&N, so there's not much point. They do have more copies listed, though:

Thanks for answers. I'll buy the cheapest one (London 2001).

I wanted to buy also "The type VII U-Boat. Anatomy of the ship". I have seen it in amazon.co.uk for 21 euros and in amazon.de for 37 euros, but the first is from Conway Maritime Press Ltd http://www.amazon.co.uk/Type-VII-U-b...2439031&sr=8-1

and the other is from Naval Institute Press:
http://www.amazon.de/Type-VII-U-Boat...2432429&sr=8-3

They seem to have the same number of pages (96 the former vs 95 the latter), and a bit thicker the later (1.6 cm vs 2 cm). Do you know if it is the same? Maybe both are the same but the latter is better paper/print quality?

I am now in a rush, any help is appreciated.

Thanks a lot!

I bought mine through the military book club. I couldn't sign up fast enough.
