Democrats in a foreign country in the US used to be regarded as dictators by their own populace, mostly.
I never understood how many americans could be so avid in defense of their own democratic rights in their country while expecting mindless submission from foreign governments. Don't get me wrong, I admire the US political system and culture, but the US did not exactly great in promoting its spread..

And there's really hardly anyone of those left in the world and the world leaders loyal to the US tend to be real embarassments nowadays, like the Polish idiot brothers, Berlusconi (who might come back) or people who just pretend to be US loyal then sell out US interests to the enemies of the US, like Erdogan or whoever's just in power in Iraq.
