I decided to start a career in Penang - GWX1.3 - and after a reasonably successful patrol was puzzled to find I hadn't earned any renown. No tonnage was recorded either, except in the Captains Log, but no renown earned for it. I knew that renown cannot be awarded for reaching patrol areas but what about the tonnage?
The following were all sunk at Madras harbour: 01 Sep 1943 0022 Patrol 1 U-178, 10th Flotilla Left at: September 1, 1943, 00:22 From: Penang Mission Orders: Patrol grid BENGALEN 11 Sep 1943 1835 Long 80° 19' E, Lat 13° 11' N Ship sunk! S.S. Patria (Tramp Steamer), 2380 tons 1845 Long 80° 20' E, Lat 13° 12' N Ship sunk! HMAS Gawler (Bathurst class), 950 tons 2322 Long 80° 19' E, Lat 13° 11' N Ship sunk! S.S. Gwaler (Medium Passenger Liner), 15465 tons 2337 Long 80° 19' E, Lat 13° 11' N Ship sunk! Armed Trawler, 540 tons 2339 Long 80° 19' E, Lat 13° 11' N Ship sunk! Motor Vessel, 110 tons 16 Sep 1943 0654 Patrol results Crew losses: 0 Ships sunk: 5 Aircraft destroyed: 0 Patrol tonage: 19445 tons Thought I might have got at least something for that lot |

I have no idea, but since nobody's answering, maybe you should post this at the mod forum:
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/forumdisplay.php?f=195 And then delete this thread here.

Is it the first patrol in a new career? If so, it seems you have struck an old bug.
If you do any changes, upgrades, to your boat before the first patrol this is often the result, sorry. Sometimes you get this zero renown thing after first patrol even without making any changes at all, inc. crew. I always do a short sea trial of the first patrol in new careers, just go some 50km. out and then return to base. Then I do whatever changes I want before the second patrol.

Also there were no crew medals or promotions available afterwards, just one one crew station award available.Damn, spent 3 hours real time sneaking in and out of Madras. What a waste of time!

Ah well
thats the thing, with most supermods its advised to start 1st patrol without touching anything (upgrades) just go with the sub you get and have a first patrol and after that you can go upgrade whatever you want BUT when you finished the patrol, go back to the main menu (to ENSURE the save says In base BEFORE patrol) thats very important if you want to upgrade your sub good luck and enjoy |

You wont get any renown for reaching or patroling grid as there arent any so the game doesnt recognise it
Same goes for the Black Sea You can however alter your basic cfg to adjust the renown for returning home to include the grid patrol amount Just so you dont lose out C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\SilentHunterIII\data\Cfg Open the basic cfg in notepad and look for [RENOWN] RenownReachGridObjCompleted=200 RenownPatrolGridObjCompleted=200 CompletedPatrol=100 < change to 500 and save NEUTRAL=-1 ALLIED=1 Make sure you are in port and SH3commander has been rolled back if you use it Oh and dont forget to change back when you leave the Indian Ocean or Black Sea

As a matter of course, whenever I start a career my first patrol is, 'Start Patrol' & then 'Dock at...'. I don't even bother leaving the dock.
If you use SH3Cmdr, set your 'days in base' to 1 before doing this and you won't miss out on too much.
