How deep can current Sub's go??

I know allot if it is classified. But playing some of the current Sub games ( like Dangerous Waters, or Subcommand ) Those fast attack subs don't go much deeper than 1300 feet.

Then I look up civilan subs, like that of

that can dive down to 1000k feet!!!

WTF!!

I really think the current subs of many nations and of course the USA, can dive much much deeper than anyone really thinks..

I doubt if you will ever get a true answer to your question about any in service boat.The depth will also be factored to counter aging of the hull.HMS Swiftsure went very deep once when I believe there was a little confusion over meters and feet!!She was the first boat of her class withdrawn.

Agreed that the depths given in our games are probably conservative. But I think that with all the hull penetrations for weapons, sensors, and a large propeller shaft, combined with potentially sacrificing durability for stealth in hull design, that these depths aren't TOO conservative.

Also kudos on digging up the Phoenix 1000 site. When I am a supervillain that will be a must-have!

I have personally been down to 1,100 feet and that was on a boomer (USS Ethan Allen SSBN 608),
but we had 16 missiles on board.

Fast attacks can go much deeper, but why tell the world that measures their own ability to do such things.

But here's my best guess on how deep a US General Dynamics built submarine can go ...
1,XXX feet from keel to the surface. This would be my best guess.

i bet that seawolves can go about 2000 feet, that might seem like alot but in DW they can dive to 1900 somthin, so thats my estimate

Check out some of the russian subs..Most of them have double hulls. Sierra class can go down to 2,300 feet (Maximum Safe Depth). Or the Mike class, 3000 feet (prob could go deeper than that too) She went down in 1989 after a fire broke out in the aft compartment.

I was always under the impression that the alfa was the deepest-diving sub (of the soviet era anyway). 3000 feet for a damaged sub, thatd result in several stained pants i spose!

Almost all modern combat subs come with double hulls. The russian subs used titanium hulls, which were more stable than usual hulls. Titanium however is very expensive and very difficult to work with.

Civilian subs usually can go much deeper because they have less to no devices that need access to both the surrounding water and the sub's interior at the same time (like torpedo tubes, periscopes and so on).

It amazes me that they can have those deep diving subs that have those massive glass bubbles for viewing. I mean. I'd feel weird looking at that glass. I'd feel much more comfortable with Titanium.

So enough of all this speculation.:p Are there any recorded instances of super deep diving that we can look at? Like a nice wiki or like an article? Anyone here want to be the first to declassify some harrowing ordeal?
