[REQ] Select class in Submarine School?

Bothers we that you can only take the Porpoise for a whirl. I would like to play with old S-boats for training! (and the others as well, of course).

havent tried that yet but i have changed the stock ships in artillery training

added 2 huge euro liners and a large modern tanker

Tanker prob wasnt a good choice it has a deck gun as well heh

I will post where i changed the files as soon as i know its stable

Ok I dont know enough to let you pick from the diferent boats

but a quick and dirty fix is this

Go into silent hunter 4 wolves of the pacific\data\submarine school\

open the ss folder you want to change the sub in
say ss02 artillery

open the ss02 artilery.mis file in notepad

about 1/3 of the way down you will find
unit 1
name=player
class=ssporpoise
change to class=sss42

click save and start the game

I have tried this and hav a ss Gar as my sub for the artilery mission

you can also change the date of the ship under cfgdate=19430601
