I have experienced a failure of the bow planes, in an S-18 Class boat. When the boat dived, the bow didn't! Just hung there on the surface, boat riding at 45 degrees, wouldn't go down at all. No sign of damage on the damage control screen, but the two depth guages at the dive planes controls where in disagreement.
I wasn't sure if it was malfunction or a bug, loks like it was a malfunction. Reminded me of the "famous" conversation between the captain and first lieutenant of a Britsh WW1 K-boat, "My end's diving Number One, what's yours doing?" |
