how do you remove a ship from a mission

when creating a mission, if you change your mind on a ship how can you remove it? i see no remove or delete feature, so how do you do it?

left click on the unit to highlight it and press delete button on keyboard

You can drag a box around several units to do "bulk deletes".

Also, make sure that the range or drag tools are not switched on, otherwise you'll not be able to move them.
