How Do You Minimize SH3?

Hello again!

Can anyone help me out. I would like to minimize SH3 when running so I can go to windows and perform some other tasks, go online, visit subsim, maybe get some work done, etc.

What command function will allow me to minimize the game and if it is minimized will I hear a look out say, "Ship Spotted". So I can revert back to the action.

This would be a great solution to the slow times of the game.

Is there a way to do this?

ummm think its alt+tab or if u run gwx its the windows key i believe im not sure if you would still here "ship spotted" though

When i minimize the game with the windows key i never get to hear anything .

I'm testing it now. I just left Lorient on my 3rd patrol heading down to ET 51. Cruising at 1/3 speed with TC at 64.

Doesn't look like I'm going to hear the Watchman say, "Ship Spotted".

Now that the game is minimized I have lost all sound......it doesn't look good at this point. What a bummer!

I can only hope that there is a way to minimize the game without losing the sound?

I would never minimize and leave the game running, with or without sound. You're just asking for trouble.

hhehehehe yeah he is right i left mine on x1 tc and went to the loo. came back and i had been sunk by a DD caught with with my pants down you could say:rotfl:

LOL! You are right. I'm finding out how nasty those DD really are. I try now to avoid any destroyers I see. On my first patrol I only sank one tanker and later on I was spotted by a destroyer which charged at me real fast. I tried to crash dive at about 300 meters and the Destroyer went right over the top of me.

Somehow I made my way back to the surface and noticed the Destroyer actually sank and my boat was left with a hull of about 42%. I headed straight back to the base.

I couldn't believe the Destroyer actually sank because I didn't fire a torp at it. I guess I won the collision battle. LOL

I have the game minimized now and running with no sound of course. I'm aware this is risky business to do this but I believe there is a work around. Maybe I'll get lucky and find out how to turn on the sound.

Last time I restored the game I was at 1x speed and noticed that I was spotted by an aircraft so I crashed dived and escaped.

Perhaps, I might just change the settings in SH3 Commander to PAUSE when a ship or aircraft is spotted. This should work right?

Yes, that works fine. I applied these settings and will absolutely never change them back to any other value.

However with them leaving the port is a real pain... :rotfl:

If your likely to leave the game then the 'paused' setting is for you...but if your not then set it at x1 and that'll allow you the ability to react in real time just like the real thing

OK so there I was cruising along minimized at 1x setting and I go to restore the game and I'm under aircraft attack. Four crewman dead and my tower completely destroyed.

This is the first time I have had dead crew on board. Now what?

My ship was in such bad shape I had to return to port and abandon the mission.

So 1x speed setting is not enough for me to escape the air attack. I have just started my fourth patrol and moved the enemy detected settings to PAUSE.

That should work...let's see.
