Where can I find big ships and sink them???? I've heard that Freetown is a good place (I found a C3 once when I patrol there) but there isn't much of them
I have got a IXB and in 1940, and America hadn't declear war yet (so never ask me to go to Eastern America Can you give me the grids (eg: AM35) and I don't want it to get close to shore --- destroyers sucks a lot and I don't want most of my contacts to be a little merchant and escorted by DDs --- they sucks a lot (I actually want >=50% of my contact to be C2 or above) Thanks for your help!!! p.s can you tell me the key to switch between AA guns when I have 2 or more flaks, also removing mines and subnets in SH3 harbour traffic mod v1.47 (see http://www.subsim.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=46447 ) (I think) |

Well m8, if you refer to the maps, you can see the convoy routes. Try snooping around near Gibraltar , an Alexandria-Liverpool convoy passes there often.

Although this is a cheat but i use it from time to time especially if i do a couple of patrols with no kills then next patrol i'll add the mod, tally up my kills then disable it next patrol.
Download the "Spysat" mod from http://u-boot.realsimulation.com/ This mod shows all the convoys & taskforces on the map travelling, also good to use to just see there routes. Amazingly there is a Taskforce that travels from Bergen (GridAF) area right down to the Gibralta all the time, as soon as it gets to the Gib it starts again in the AF grid & repeats the cruise. Usually its a carrier with escorts sometimes it is a BB. And there is alot of traffic from BC to AE. Usually the bigger the convoy square the more you come across large tankers/C3's. Recommend u DL the lite version of the Spy as the heavy version shows way to many. Meaning frustration sets in, Which convoy should i attack, theirs to many to choose!!! :rotfl:

Take a look at the amp and go for the obvious choke points. The entrances to the Irish Sea, top end of Scotland, the mouth of the Mediterranean. All good always lots of traffic. Once hanging out near the straights of Gibraltar, I got 3 convoys appearing at once, two inbound one outbound. If only I had more torpedoes.

Depending on the year you can try the following areas
1939-1941: North and West of the British Isles and in the Irish sea (be careful though as it is infested with mines). Also the area around Gibraltar has a lot of traffic 1942-1944: North American Coast, Gulf of Mexico, The areas around Cuba and the surrounding islands have a lot of lone Tankers. You can also check the Area around Freetown and the tip of Africa. You will find Small Merchants and other ships in the area around Rio de Janeiro and in the Mar de la plata (Buenos Aires). After 1944 don't even bother. Wherever you are there is an Allied destroyer and a couple of bombers looking for you. I usually spend the last months of the war in the relativelly safe waters of the Baltic Sea hunting Soviet shipping. Good Luck
