It would be great if we could get hold of charts of the dockyards and naval bases in sh3, with the surrounding depths etc. It would help in raiding ports.

A better option is to use SH3Gen which gives you configurable levels of "intelligence" inlcuding what's in ports some minefields, airfields etc. plus some other features to help with immersion. Well worth it.
