Running Patched Vanilla...
Here's the scenario: Patrol #10.. Found another convoy, but had some torpedoes this time Spent a day circling the crippled T3 waiting for the weather to settle so I could finish her off w/ my deck gun and get credit.. Never cleared up so I tried ramming her & blowing ballast from beneath & crahing conning tower into her keel.. No luck.. As I was running up to my patrol grid to get the extra renown, sailed right into another convoy that had a troop transport in the middle . Here I was with a perfect set up & no eels.. Made it to my grid, patrolled for the 24 & finally headed back to Brest (Started in Wilhelmshaven but return port was changed.) .. I checked my navmap & Brest wasn't even shown.. I saved the game, went back in & still no Brest.. I should have just "Returned to Port", but I settled for "Docking at: Lorient"..Time to leave Lorient so I cleared the dock, plotted my waypoints out of the harbor & immediately crashed into a dock.. The visual path did not match the nav map at all.. I started following the visual path out of Lorient, but according to the NAVMAP, I was going upriver.. The only way out according to the NAVMAP was through that dock!! Had to stop playing at that point so I'll pickup pierside in Lorient.. A few questions: 1. Could I have spent my torpedoes better in the convoy? 2. Does ramming/surfacing work? 3. What happened to Brest?? 4. What's the deal w/ leaving Lorient?? 5. Why are neutrals in an armed enemy convoy?? Thanks!!! By the way, as you already know, this game is addictive.. Played until 0230 (Started at 1700) and work up the next morning w/ a sore wrist (Mouse hand).. 2 days later & still hurts... Dang.. Last edited by Herr Russ; 11-06-2006 at 09:09 AM. |

Hello
1. I think that you probably could have spent your torpedos better. When firing one try to have a small gyro-angle. When you're aiming on a ship there is a small triangle on your scope. Fire only when this is green as that way you have a good chance of hitting the target. Also try to hit the ships at different places to ensure flooding. Have a look at this tread http://www.communitymanuals.com/shii...hip_Weak_Spots 2. I'm not sure but I think ramming doesn't give you credit for the kill. 3-4. I have no idea 5. It's a common problem with SH3. Neutral ships are in convoys but they still count as neutral. There is no way around that. If you kill them you get the tonnage but lose renown. If you have any other questions PM me or ask and I'll do my best to reply. Good Luck and Good Shooting |

Found out what happened at Lorient... I didn't zoom in far enough to see the naval base and sub pens on the map. Once I did that, I was able to plot around them..
Still don't know what happened to Brest disappearing from the map... |

Ramming only hurts your Hull Integrity and give you no kill, if you don't sink yourself trying it.
