Default Waterway Question

I have several careers going in late 42's and early 43. I started another career in 39 from Wilhelmshaven, 2nd Foltilla. The game date is October 1939. I have orders to BF15. Instead of going around the top of the UK. I was looking for a shortcut. Already did the English Channel several times. The one I'm looking takes me through a waterway called Minch. On my map at home here it looks like either North Minch or Little Minch, sorry I don't know the difference or the correct name. Does anyone have any experiences here, as to Merchant traffic, Warship traffic, is it even passible. It looks plenty deep, so I was wondering if it was a high risk or not. I do have experience in shallow water, besides the Mediterranean, I was in a Type 9 boat in July of 1942 and wanted to see how far I could make it up the Chesapeake Bay (I'm from Baltimore). I didn't get too far. It just got too shallow for my comfort …. Thanx Jerry

Can you show on a map? I couldn't find a Minch waterway near Wilhelmshaven.

The North Minch is a strait in north-west Scotland, separating the north-west Highlands and the northern Inner Hebrides from Lewis and Harris in the Outer Hebrides

the Little Minch, is the Minch's southern extension, separating Skye from the lower Outer Hebrides

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Minch

For maritime traffic in SH3, you can forge an idea using the mission editor.
Everything is in the Campaign.RND and Campaign.SCR files

Yves

Looks like a gauntlet for uboat. Shallow waters, ports on all sides, no where to run...
