Im not exactly sure what Im seeing. How are you breaking avoiding torps?

@stratege1401
Torpedoes are expensive, you know...
Thanks !

@cj95
Depth evasion by ballast. You can watch the 3D MAP version to give you another perspective.

I have these observations on the technique demonstrated in 1st vid.
Steer direct at nearest firing sub.
As torps near, make ballast only constant depth changes changing speed accordingly. If deep, go shallow, if shallow, go deep.

The ballast depth change rate seems like the magic number to stay out of the torpedoe's fired depth vertical scan yet not lose control of the depth change rate.

I'm not seeing any obsessive attempt to always avoid cavitation, preferring vertical maneuvering and closing speed over stealth.

Closing tight with the enemy subs as fast as possible so they are forced to be at risk from circle runs.

I racked two whiskeys the other day and didn't fire one torp,skipjacks are fast subs went full speed in a crash dive and their torpedos came along for the ride then back up after passing the offending ship and buh-bye.

That's the advantage to cutting the wire in recent patch so you can stop those circle runs on yourself as long as you still have the wire.

@ -Pv-
Spot on.
The only reason I hurry is because I want to reach my victim before his torpedo expire. Even so, after I pass him, reach his back to make sure he lost his wire, the torpedo has a few minutes left of thrust, if that.

The '68 campaign in ELITE difficulty has 17 missions. If anyone is interested in watching:

After hours of playing, I tried to learn torpedo's patterns to somehow bypass evasion.
At first glance, 10 knots speed, initial ballast evasion, and as soon it passes you, steer in the same direction as her(?), try to position in the center of the circle that it forms, and when there, brake by "back emergency" until 0 speed.
Pros, resume activity faster. Cons, you can only do it with just one torpedo. I did it with 2, but they formed 2 very close circles.
Perhaps -Pv- can explain in better terms and in better english. A video about that:

I thought the soviet '84 campaign was hard, but the '68 sucks big time. Fire control gives a very rough approximation of impact, my torpedoes have 150 yards detection range, at most, no wire, and 18 of them when I exit the port.
This is going to be interesting...
