Yes, I am running v0.63 with no other mods. I didn't know to clear the save folder though. The radar I was referring to is the SJ set.

Thanks for taking the time to respond to my questions and clarify these things.

There are two saved game folders in your "My Documents" SH4 folder. When starting a new installation of say, v0.63, first delete the entire SH4 folder in your Windows documents area. Or, you can get the same effect by going into the "mydocuments\SH4\data\cfg\ folder and deleting the two saved games folders you will find there (RichSavedGames and Savedgames). The first method deletes all the Career preferences you set previously; the second allows you to retain all that except for the save files.

This presumes you are running a Windows OS.

Is that like a record aktungbby?... is there an award for the fellow, other than your usual "ruler-across-the-knuckles" trick, or "thumtack-on-the-seat" trick?...

Deleting the whole thing is preferable if there are "environmental" changes to the game, and might be necessary in this case, but we'll see what the good CapnScurvy has to say. He's been away from his computer, but should be back online shortly, we hope...

The request: in a future update would you consider tweaking the radar? Specifically, could you make it where, if the radar is turned off, it remains off until the player turns it back on? When I submerge with my radar off and then surface it automatically turns the radar back on and I don't always think to check it and when near land or enemy warships I worry about it giving my presence away. Do you have any thoughts on it?

It's the SJ Radar.
Unfortunately the SJ Radar is as it is......it turns "off" if you go below the water surface with its Antenna. It turns "on" when its above the water line. When you are above the water line, you can manually turn it "off/on", but you'll have to do it every time you submerge/resurface.

The SD Radar in Fotrs Ultimate works differently due to a "command" used from the German side of play that allows it to turn "on/off" at the discretion of the player...as long as its Antenna is above the water line too.

The game has only three "commands" that contradict this behavior that could be used to make the SJ work as you would like.....however, they are already being used by the American subs. Without having a fourth "command" to make the SJ work separately from the SD in its "on/off" function, we can't do anything about its capabilities.

It so happens there are references to additional commands within the game.....but they are not "Active" in-game!?! Yep, the developers had plans to make additional functional commands which could have been used to do exactly what your requesting, but they don't have them linked to anything!! They are not "active"! And, without them being "active" their worthless. As a modder, we can only work with what we've got....this is one of those areas.

As a side note, the ST Radar Antenna in Ultimate does work as expected, due to it being linked to one of those three "commands" I was talking about. It's linked to the Night (Observation) Periscope and can be turned "on/off" by simply lowering the scope....even when the sub is surfaced. You'll get the ST Radar to operate the Radar Stations as expected which happens to make Fotrs Ultimate the only mod that works as designed. The Stock game doesn't have the ST work at all.

With all the limitations, it's amazing that CapnScurvy has the radars working as well as they do, which is a darned sight better than stock. But the game is held together with duct tape and bailing wire to meet Ubi's unrealistic release date, 10 years ago. And, of course, after game release all the developers are fired to go work on PacMan or other completely unrelated projects. We're stuck with Ubi's terrible management decisions.

Yes, Yes, Welcome back Mav87th!!

It's been a long time!! I remember you dealing with the very topics of correct/accurate Optics for the game....much like I was doing 10 years ago. If you can't get the Telemeter Divisions to give an accurate measurement in length/width, what's the point in having them except for eye candy?!?

Good to hear from you!!

Hello

I was playing in campaign with this megamod. I found a task force near of Filipinas and I sank a heavy cruiser but the escorts that were nearby did not detect my submarine.

Is it working phase IA DDS?

Some of the Task Forces have had their escorts turned down as an experiment, but we may have turned them back too much... The earlier in the war, also, the easier it is to get away with things, but we'll look into it. Do you happen to remember the date and time of day by chance? East, North, South or West side of the Philippines? Thanks.

FOTRS_Ultimate_ Development_Team,

While on patrol, USS Gar (USS-206) out of Midway, came across a eight ship convey with one ship, a Destroyer Shimakaze class, that didn't get it's last coat of paint in a few areas. Date, time and location is: 20Jun43, 08:23 hrs Midway time, my submarine's location was Lat 7°42'N, Long 150° 13'E, at a heading of 120°. The convey heading was 280°, speed 8 knots. A Heavy Cruiser Adba class had a small fire burning at midships, port side.

Great mod Team! Even if my computer is a little slow, but it runs better than when I had TMO 2.5.

Larry

Hmm..... Does not look like a NDD_Shimakaze, just checking against the actual model.. I'd better check the names.cfg for errors..

Could you re-check the I.D of the vessel for me ?
