Silicon Valley is known for moving fast and breaking things, but Apple Inc. may want its employees to slow down in order to not break themselves or the company’s new $5 billion headquarters.

According to documents and sources, Apple AAPL, -0.32% has run into a problem at Apple Park: Because so much of the interior is made from glass — the walls and doors, for example — people are walking into the panes, sometimes painfully.

This Hubble Space Telescope image shows Supernova 1987A within the Large Magellanic Cloud, a neighboring galaxy to our Milky Way.

Distant stars serve as a backdrop for Supernova 1987A, located in the center of the image. The bright ring around the central region of the exploded star is composed of material ejected by the star about 20,000 years before its demise. Gaseous clouds surround the supernova. The clouds' red color represents the glow of hydrogen gas, which is fueling a firestorm of star birth.

Supernova 1987A was discovered in 1987, and Hubble began observing the exploded star in the early 1990s. This latest view was taken by Hubble's Wide Field Camera 3 in January 2017. The colors of the foreground and background stars were added from observations taken by Hubble's Wide Field Planetary Camera 2.

Supernova 1987A resides 163,000 light-years away.

Finnish military uniform WW2 vs. modern

Taken in 2016 during the filming of the 2017 remake of 'The Unknown Soldier'. The guy on the left is actor Samuli Vauramo portraying Lieutenant Lammio. On the right is Finnish Navy vice admiral Kari Takanen.

Newly released image of Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko taken by Rosetta on 22 September 2014.

Quote:
This image shows a portion of 67P/C-G as viewed by Rosetta on 22 September 2014, only one and a half months after the spacecraft had made its rendezvous with the comet. At the time, the spacecraft was 28.2 km from the comet centre (around 26.2 km from the surface). Amateur astronomer Jacint Roger Perez, from Spain, selected and processed this view by combining three images taken in different wavelengths by the OSIRIS narrow-angle camera on Rosetta.

Seen in the centre and left of the frame is Seth, one of the geological regions on the larger of the two comet lobes, which declines towards the smoother Hapi region on the comet’s ‘neck’ that connects the two lobes. The landscape in the background reveals hints of the Babi and Aker regions, both located on the large lobe of 67P/C-G.

The sharp profile in the lower part of the image shows the Aswan cliff, a 134 m-high scarp separating the Seth and Hapi regions. Observations performed by Rosetta not long before the comet’s perihelion, which took place on 13 August 2015, revealed that a chunk of this cliff had collapsed – a consequence of increased activity as the comet drew closer to the Sun along its orbit.

The images are of the Large Magellanic Cloud, so 160,000 light-years away.

/\ I sat in that car which was parked on a South SF pier where I was the armed security standing over the cash box at a weekend public auto auction. The pier was shared by the Nash Bridges production company and no one objected when I asked. The show is still on every Wednesday! Some years later, 2009-2010, I was security on SF's Treasure Island for the short-lived TV show Trauma. 30 taxis, 30 ambulances, 30 police cruisers, ten eighteen wheelers and particularly: 3 real flying helicopters and their fuel-truck were my sole lookout every night for a year. The Huey behind New Zealander Cliff Curtis was a particular favorite. The copter company owner, an ex Marine no-nonsense colonel and the 'copter pilots were extremely courteous the whole year long to their guard! Seeing shows get made from the wormseye view is more entertaining than the show itself! < one of the the other 'copters. Since the City itself was reguarded as a 'character' the 'copters wer flown to the locations when not parked at Treasure island on the old Pan Am Clipper runway. The original 1937 hangers housed the show's massive interior hospital & firehouse set and also
the production carpentry, and production offices. The shoulder patch and 'copter logo is still on one of the historic hangers.
