PRETTY COOL! your photo ^ shows what looks suspiciously like a rendition of the mouth of the Napa River entrance from the Carquinez Strait N. to Mare Island ...http://www.brooksmachinery.com/JSteel-Omax-Case-Study.aspx

Wow. I've never seen a sub pit before! Awesome stuff. I always enjoy looking at folk's homebuilt sim pits especially aircraft but this is super cool.

Yeah I haven't been around on Subsim in too long. I've been around its just that it goes in cycles. I'm usually found on SimHQ as Coot. I've been missing the water so I'm back. Thanks for the welcome.

Thanks Balladeer. I also like flight sims and looking at home built simpits. They were kept in mind during this project.

The Navy’s submarine bridge trainer appears to have integrated binoculars.

I’m thinking of how to adapt tomoose’s idea of a small monitor inside the periscope and TrackIR to a small monitor inside a bridge mounted Target Bearing Transmitter / Binoculars with TrackIR?

Is the bridge trainer used for in port/near port handling? I assume that is the only time a nuclear sub is surfaced.

Still working on where to store the "depth charge rations" (beer) for the first war patrol.

The latest two ideas.

Dive Planes concept

Ballast Tank design

Considering using 4 inch T sections of PVC pipe with end caps for the tanks. The flat caps seem like a good place to make water tight connections with PVC connectors and gaskets. Did a test and 20 inches of 4 inch pipe holds about one gallon of water.

That would be cool to play a game on a simulator like that, I mean think of it, Each part of the boat is controll by differnt stations. Here on the simulator, each station is ready at the go. no matter below at hydrophones or at the bridge.

I personally think it would be cool to play a large U-boat simulator on a weekend with others doing operations working at our stations. Would be interesting to try.
