When I finally have A-10..you better stay behind me...I might have your plane look like swiss cheese when I ''accidentally'' slip my finger on the trigger.

so still no ETA of the release?

What?! I can't hear you from this safe distance!

Nah, not really. First beta release now, first update coming up this week iirc. Digital release before the end of this year if all goes well, boxed copy should follow a bit after that. Think boxed can safely be placed "somewhere 2011", digital Q4 2010/Q1 2011.

In my opinion they are doing it right by releasing it "When it's done." Sounds familiar, where have I heard this before? So far in the beta I have only run across a few small issues, other than that this is more complete than some other "complete" games I've played this year.

Right? That's what struck me too. Sometimes you have these comments floating around about how people feel like they paid for a beta. Always thought it was a bit exaggerated, but they're pretty much spot on. They could release it as it is now and fix it up with patches, and still have a more polished product than some games at the end of their cycle.

This is the first public beta release, and there's really nothing to stop you from having a good time. Plenty of stuff to tweak, fix and optimize, but overall it's perfectly functional.

Tried the MP yet? Officially it's not supported yet, but it seems people aren't having much difficulty running simple missions anyway.

I was on last night with a few others playing a modified Shooting Gallery mission for MP. It was quite fun I admit. I know I was glad when some of the others kept crashing their planes into objects at the AB. Made me feel like less of a noob, as I only crashed once.

How's the performance compared to Black Shark?

Just wondering if an upgrade to a newer graphics card is needed for A-10.

Using a GeForce 9800GTX+ at the moment.

Hard to say, considering it isn't finalised/optimized yet.

Don't really know how it compares; haven't run BS on this card yet. Give it a test tomorrow.

For what it's worth; performance is pretty good, though there are some areas that cause a lot of slowdown.

Just out of curiosity, what programs do you use? I have fraps for video capture, but I cant find a decent AVI converter anywhere.

Stumbled onto Microsoft Expression Encoder. It lacks some stuff from Movie Maker, such as the transitions, but offers far more encoding options. You can control stuff like resolution and quality directly.

It'll only output to .wmv with VC-1 codec. Buying the pro version gives you access to h.264 codec and MPEG4 container.
