Default C3 cargo ships

How many torpedos dose it take for you to sink one? I take 3 for is it normal or to many torpedos? And can i aim under ship and have magnetic piston with automatic targeting?

I have sunk c3's with one but I have also hit them with three and they continue. It all depends on where the torp hits. I'd say two will do the trick most times. All you can do is play and do your best depending on the situation.

Magnetic setting approximatly 1 meter below the draft stated in the recognition manual directly in between fuel bunker and engine compartment will do the trick for me probably 8 out of 10 times making them my favourite target together with T3's.

If i go for the hull with an impact setting i will usually end up needing 2 torps if not sometimes 3.

But in most of my attacks i will rely on the magnetics

The community manual http://www.communitymanuals.com/shii...itle=Main_Page has a great section on ship weak spots on where to hit various type vessels to down them in a single shot. It leaves out a couple though, C3 might be one of them, I forget. But for ships in general, the engine room is located directly below the smokestack, and the fuel tank is just forward of the engine room. You want to hit right between the engine room and the fuel tank, so aim for a few meters forward of just below the smoke stack, in a lot of cases this is right below where the ship's bridge is. Use impact torpedo set at 3 meters. It'll work every time you hit it right, but you don't always hit it right, especially in manual targetting. You know you've got it when you get a nice secondary fiery explosion on a half second delay after the torpedo impact explosion. If you miss the sweet spot, at least you hit the aft end of the vessel, so a second shot to the bow will usual do the trick, often I put the bow shot on magnetic for just under the bow's keel.

3 is a waste of torpedos. I mostly use two and use the deckgun to finish them off. But it's not my favorite target.

Couple degress in front of the smoke stack, if it doesn't blow with one torpedo, it'll certainly bring it to a halt where I can leisurely shoot it with my deck gun after the convoy passes by

1, maybe two. aim for weakpoints

however sometimes i like to hit them right at the stern. blows off the screw and leaves the poor bastard at your every whim.

also i sink c3s with no more than 8 deck gun shells (10.5cm AP)

Igz, how do you sink a C3 with 8 deck gun shells? I've wondered what's the best way to sink a ship w/ deck gun, using a minumum of shells. I figured aiming for the waterline, or is there certain key spots to aim for?

Just last night I shot two in a convoy, 1 torpedo each. The first one just kept going; the second exploded and went down burning. Too bad about the first, but when there are escorts around, sometimes they get away.

This is an old thread, but I thought I'd chime in anyway. I'm using the stock game with the 1.4 patch. I generally sink C3's with one shot: Using the impact setting at 5.5 meters depth, I aim for the very front edge of the superstructure. Every time I've tried this, it cracks them like an egg.

I've had the same experience with T2 and T3 tankers by aiming just aft of the forward superstructure. One hit fireworks.

I have the most trouble with the C2s. A shot in the engine room usually does it, but not always.

I hope this helps -

I know this is about as necro as is possible, but I want to say the post above me works. I do 4.5m depth impact, right under the the bridge, seems to be very effective.

I have kind of taken a different view these days.

I don't care if it takes multiple torpedoes with multiple attacks against ships as this was what happened historically. If you look at the ship sinkings on www.uboat.net you will see this is a normal thing and just part of the way of the uboat effort.

Difficult I know as real life is complex and many get limited time on their computer and probably don't want to spend hours of computer time to do a 6 hour chase after their first torpedo attack failed, then go around get ahead of the target and try again.

If we all tried to do the game religiously to history we would probably get fired from our job.
