Default FOTRS Installation tips

This is a large mod. Make sure you clean up your drive by running

Cleandisk and then
Defrag the drive

Make sure you have adequate concurrent space for the mod. Don't make your drive play hopscotch and try to read and write it...

I recommend Defraggler and CCDisk as good free shareware that runs faster than MS built in products.

3. Look for a directory called "RedCross"
4 This directory should be empty.
5. Delete directory
6. Reinstall mods

I decided to give this mod a look but for some odd reason it will not take. I am putting it in the same place as the other mods inside the MODS folder and of course removing all other mods before activating FOTRS. Yet for some reason it just wont take tried removing and then activaing again even deleted and unzipped again and all that still no dice. Even tried running TMO 1.7 and it was fine not dure what the dealy is maybe a bad DL it could somewhere be messed up I am thinking. To be clear to all I know to remove all other MODs before running FOTRS so that is not it. If anyone has an idea other wise i am going to try and DL again.

About installing something with jsgme nothing happening,

You may have double folders problem like this
Mod A (Name of mod)
Mod A (Name of mod second time)
Data (start of modded files)

This is how it should be
Mod A (Name of mod)
Data (start of modded files)

I am going to dl again I belive i may have installed the two fixes wrong. I am somewhat unsure as how to do this as it says;
1.) deactivate FOTRS with JSGME
2.) run the Bugfix001.exe
3.) Chose your destination-folder where the Bugfix have to be installed.
Important : The destination must be the FalloftherisingSun_V1.2_SH4V1.5-Folder in your Mod-Folder of your SH4 installation :
For example : c:\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter 4 Wolfes of the Pacific\MODS\FalloftherisingSun_V1.2_SH4V1.5
4.) activate FOTRS with JSGME and enjoy the changes.


Does this mean that since I dont yet have FOTRS installed that i must first install it then uninstall it to add the updates? Or can I add them in before I activate FOTRS with JSGME? Also I am not 100% sure about the path I assume that you want to put this inside the FOTRS folder that should be inside my MODS folder if that is correct then that somewhat answers the older question as in that case there should be only one FOTRS folder. At any rate I will dl then install clean see if it works then try and add the two updates.

Hi steelhead,

the mainmod FOTRS has to be deactivated if you wanne install the upgrades cause the upgrades should installed to the FOTRS-Folder in your Mod-Folder.

All upgrades should installed to the unactivated FOTRS-Mod. Dont install the upgrades to the game.
The destination must be the FOTRS-Mod in your Mod-folder.
After this is done, FOTRS is upgraded and ready for activation via JSGME.

Well I will try that once I get FOTRS to work. Got a fresh dl unzipped and activated with JSGME just to see if it will work but nope nothing running as if it is just plian old 1.5. Dont see what it could be it shows up in my SH4 folders just like any other mod does and they work fine but this one for some reason it just wont. Not much of a nuts and bolts PC head so I dont know every single in and out but I am even going in to double check to see that there are not any files hanging around from another MOD before I add FTORS. Something about this MODS files my PC must not like which is odd since it very much TMO and i can run TMO fine.By the way my MODs folder in under compatiabilty files under SH4 if that makes any diffrence and I hope it dosent as that was the only way i was able to get JSGME and the other mods to work.

You can find them in the "Sound"-Folder of the FOTRS-Mod !

Oilexplosion called : P16_#oil_explosion.wav
Battlestation called : Submarine_GQ_battle_stations_INT.wav

Using the Units in this way is not an big problem.
You can add them to the game, some merchants will appear in the campaign but the big warships wont come.
For scripted missions all units will come.
But remember, some new ships of FOTRS uses special weapons.
FOTRS got some new weapons in the "Library" so if you wanne use the ships of FOTRS you also have to use the weapons and some of the new weapons got some new textures.
So you also have to use the new weapon-textures.

So if I was to look at your Carrier update 2 with all of the US carriers, and copy all files in any of the same directories form the FOTRS mod and added the required text to the units list file, I should be good to go?

After installing this mod I no longer see damage decals on ships i've hit with either torpedoes or my deck gun

anyone else get this?

For some reason when I installed FOTRS and played after a couple days then the next day my graphics got messed up.Does any one have a solution to this?
