Silent Hunter 2 medals

Hy guys, I found that the sim doesn't award medals for a job well done. It seems that only three out four are given in certain missions ( they seems scripted ) but after that nothing. It is the same problem of destroyer command the sim companion of SH2. I tried everything from googling to personally edit the score in campaign scenarios, edit Atlantic.cam file, completing all secondary objectives without results. Is there a fix to this or mods to solve the problem? it's a minor issue but is annoying not to be rewarded for a good job expecially when the game says that I'm the top ace of u-boat force. I play with patch 1.1 and Fletcher mod installed that allow savegame during campaign. I read that saving and reloading doesn't allow medals to be awarded correctly but it isn't true because all the medals I received were awarded after I loaded a save. The load and save trick just seems to prompt a bug witch prevent radio messages from BdU to shows after loading and a bug witch makes torpedo fully functional even with dud torpedos on.
I play SH2 just because was the only chapter I was missing and I like SH series much; I have all the others.
Any help reguarding medals would be appreciated.

Here I'm again,
I figured it out that medals are awarded randomly without historical accuracy i.e the EKII before UBoat combat badge; at times the game gives it to you even if you miss all secondary objectives and it gives you nothing when instead you perform well.
I think there should be a way to make them scripted after a successfull patrol but HOW?
Files reguarding medals are stored in shell\DSF if i figure out how to combine them with the result window ( when you exit sim during patrols ) stored in sim\DSF in order to prompt them when I quit it should be done but again HOW?
I now that's an ols sim and for many a waste of time but someone can help?

Well, you are not alone in your frustration. The SUBSIM Super-CD circa July 2004 had a medals mod (SH2awardfix.zip) with the following readme:

These 3 files will fix a problem with awards process.
Until I did this I was was NEVER awarded the German Cross
OR the Knights Crosses

How to install
copy and paste these 3 files

~AwardGermanCross.dsf
~AwardKnightsSwords.dsf
AwardKnightsSwords.dsf

in to C:\Program Files\SSI\Silent Hunter II\Shell\DSF

Note that you do NOT need to overwrite or backup any files.

Uninstall - delete the previous 3 files

What I did -
frustrated by my inability to win the German Cross and the
Knights Crosses ( but ALL others easily) I started snooping
around the "shell" area looking for the scoring process. ie if score = x then award medal
I never found it. I did find a number of files related to each
award however. I noticed that one of the knights cross awards
is MISSPELLED as "awardkinghtsswords.dsf"
so after looking the prog with wordpad
I simply created
"awardknightsswords.dsf " and " ~awardknightsswords.dsf "
by using "rename file".

I then tested my fix. On my next mission I was
TOLD I won the German Cross in Gold ( a first) but then
RECEIVED the Knight Cross w Oak Leaves (also a first) ....!!! BUG

again checking C:\Program Files\SSI\Silent Hunter II\Shell\DSF
I noticed that while all other awards had 2 files the
German Cross in Gold only had 1. what a surprise.
so I created " ~AwardGermanCross.dsf " by using
one of the other " ~ " files as a template and pasting
in all the appropriate info. Since I have not changed ANY
of the data contained WITHIN these file this mod is NOT a cheat.

retested w a new career at 86 % realism NO OTHER MODS
have been awarded ALL medals & badges w no errors
(although I did win the iron cross 1st class twice...)

You might check the current SUBSIM downloads and see if the mod is still available. I have the Super CD mentioned above if you can't find it (I have not tried it). It's only 2.18 KB in size.
