Default Torpedo Spread Questions?

Hi

In SH3 you would set your spread beforehand and do a salvo and all the torps would leave together with slight interval. Am i right in saying in SH4 that you fire 1, move spread dial and then fire 2 and then move spread dial and fire 3 etc?

Also as soon as I fire a torp the chronometer appears over the spread dial. Is there a way to stop it happening or to move it?

1st question. Firing a spread. What you described is how it has to be done. I don't bother with the spread dial. Firing one at a time will give you a spread. If you're using auto-targeting, don't be locked in on your target.
2nd question. The chronometer. There is an "X" at the stem. Click your cursor on it and you can move the chronometer. I believe it will come up where you move it to until you exit the game.

I thought the "X" closed it. I usually click somewhere on the rim to move it.

Whenever I load the game, the first thing I do is open one of the training missions, and move the stopwatch, dialogue, etc. bits around to my liking.

I'm not sure why, really. It's not as though I couldn't do the same in a save game.

You can alter the screen coordinates of the chronometer in the menu_1024_768.ini file. But locating the proper GUI element for it, or the screen location with the numbers is a complicated task. And depends on the mods in sequence that you have applied. Edit the file in the wrong place and you might corrupt the file. So make sure you keep a backup of it and use JSGME to make a custom mod with those files only.

I think you're right. My mistake. Apologies hachiman.

I preferred to fire my spreads by the wire, bow to stern, often the spread meter just spreads them too wide and it's too much guessing. I found this more accurate and faster.
